What do you want to do with GeoExchange?

You can heat your home with radiant in-floor, forced air, or a hybrid system utilizing both.

One of the great advantages to GeoExchange forced-air is that the equipment is capable of both heating and cooling. No outdoor air conditioning units required to cool the home. The biggest advantage to the homeowner when both heating and cooling through the year with GeoExchange is increased efficiency and less equipment required. Also, since the GeoExchange heat pumps are designed to be installed indoors, they are quiet, clean, and easily serviceable since they require no fossil fuels to operate.

Hydronic in-floor radiant heating is an excellent match for ground source heat pumps. The water temperature designed to be distributed through in-floor radiant is approx 80F to 120F. This is the same temperature of water that geoexchange heat pumps can provide at a very high operational efficiency.

The heat pump can replace a boiler (electric or gas-fired) in many cases and provide the hot water required. This could be used for snowmelt (radiant in-floor for your driveway), hot tub/pool heating, or heating your greenhouse or garage. In cases where higher temperatures are needed, the majority of the energy can be contributed by the GeoExchange heat pump and then temperature increased slightly with the use of a supplementary boiler.

Heating domestic water with GeoExchange can be very simple. Almost all heat pump manufacturers include the option for hot water generation, also known as a desuperheater. It has been advertised as "free" water heating, but this is not entirely accurate. While the heat pump is running in heating or cooling mode the desuperheater pump will also be circulating. Water from a domestic water tank (or preheat tank) flows through the heat pump picking up heat though a heat exchanger and delivers that heated water back to the hot water tank. This works best in cooling mode, where otherwise this heat would have to be put back into the ground loop.
